Krista at Tiger's Nest

Firefox Tours was wonderful to work with on my brief trip to Bhutan. Michal was incredibly helpful in rearranging and organizing the tour based on my financial needs. He responded to my emails immediately and answered all my questions. The visa came in time and presented no problems. Both hotels, one in Thimphu and one in Paro were very nice, with hot water for the showers (something lacking in my hotels in Nepal) and well-functioning internet connections. I was able to see the major highlights of both Thimphu and Paro with my guide, Phurba, who was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about the culture, the sites, and the religious iconography that abounds in the temples as well as on some of the houses. He provided insights into Bhutanese life that I would otherwise not have been able to access. His English was impeccable, which was an added benefit. Our hike to Taktsang Phalphug, Tiger’s Nest, was a special highlight, as were the visits to the very impressive National Museum (do go!) and the new Zangdopelri Paro Monastery and recently renovated 14th C Dumtseg Lhakhang Stupa with wooden ladders that take visitors up three flights to view intricate Buddhist wall imagery that is intended as a teaching tool. Bhutan is a mystical and fascinating place. I thank Firefox Tours for making my stay in their country a very enjoyable learning experience.
