Hotel Olathang is the first tourist hotel built in Bhutan. Initially it served as accommodation for the official international guests during coronation of His Majesty the 4th King in 1974. After many upgrades it still serves today, although it bears apparent signs of its age.

It gained additional prominence at the end pandemic crisis since it is only practically usable hotel for international tourist quarantine. For that purpose, it serves very well, thanks to its spacious rooms and cottages and large naturally beautiful compound.
